Drone Mapping Boot Camp

We've been asked many times over the years of teaching our popular mapping boot camp.. When will you offer an evening class to work with busy schedules? How about now?....

This boot camp will include the same in-depth drone mapping instruction as our flagship mapping class. Albeit with shorter class times and 16 total sessions over an 8 week period, students will benefit from the following:

  • Short class sessions (2 hours each): will allow the instructor and the students to focus in on specific concepts and allow ample time for questions, examples and exercises.
  • ​Slower pace overall: will allow students to absorb the content from a session, then leave class with time to reinforce the concepts prior to the next session, at which time they can get clarity on any of the concepts they are fuzzy on.
  • Practice Time: with short class sessions and the class stretched over 8 weeks, students will have the opportunity to practice what was learned in between session. Which will lead to better comprehension and more confident application of the concepts.  Students can re-run exercises and test data sets and come back to class with a much better sense of workflow. 
  • Ongoing Collaboration with Fellow Students: our boot camps are known for being a place where beneficial relationships begin. In this 8 week setting, students will have the opportunity to collaborate in order to enhance the learning experience as they help and encourage each other.
  • More time for Exercises and Examples: this 8 week setting will allow for guest instructors who are in the field serving clients in the drone mapping field. They'll be able to share specific examples of their experiences including what they've done well and what they'd do different and better.

Image Acquisition via Practical Flight Missions

 Virtual Flight Missions - in these flight missions, you'll learn, practice how to fly drones to acquire data for drone mapping. You'll learn the imperative relationship between the two processes and how it can affect your bottom line. 
        Learn how to use multiple acquisition apps.  Learn which apps work for which mapping deliverables. Pix4D Capture, Drone Deploy and Map Pilot to acquire images with a basic method to ensure façade data capture.
        Learn the differences between orbital missions, orbital multi-missions and formulas for complex image acquisition.  Learn the field tested formulas to create life like models for historical preservation, interactive marketing, video game environment modeling, or VFX modeling.
        how to use manual flight capture methods to create models the competition won't be able to replicate.
        we'll spend time in class discussing the results of each exercise including evaluation of how the student can make adjustments to achieve even better results. If students cannot fly, they will be provided with test data they can use as an additional exercise
